Give a Dog A Home Sponsor an ASPCA Dog or CatJuly 30, 2003 11:19 p.m. From the 7/17/03 ASPCA newsletter: MAKE A DIFFERENCE--SPONSOR AN ASPCA CAT OR DOG ONLINE!
Lucy, a two-year-old pit bull mix, was found abandoned--and pregnant--in an empty lot without food, water or shelter. Morticia, the quintessential feline fatale, is blind. Shepherd mix Beauty was surrendered at the age of nine when her owners--who had just learned that a baby was on the way--decided she was too much trouble....
Unfortunately, because of their special situations, these adoptable pets may have to wait awhile until the perfect home comes along. What kinds of care are required for these animals, and others like them, who are harder to place? Now you can get to know some super-special dogs and cats and find out more about the inner workings of a shelter, thanks to a great new feature on our website.
We'll be spotlighting six animals, including Lucy, Morticia and Beauty, and ASPCA donors will have the opportunity to track their time in our shelter online until they are adopted. Patrons can choose the animal they wish to sponsor, and come back weekly for new pictures and events in "their" animal's life at the ASPCA. Visit this new section of ASPCA.org today--and help us root for the underdog (or undercat, as the case may be)! Anyone with an e-mail address can register at the ASPCA website and subscribe to the newsletter.
