Give a Dog A Home Sad ReasonsAugust 13, 2003 5:44 a.m. There are a lot of great dogs at the District of Columbia Animal Shelter . Some of the reasons why they are at the shelter are really sad: "These sweet doggies were given up by a family that just had a baby and do not have time to take care of and train two pups." "She was found all by herself in the hallway of an apartment building, supposedly put out by someone who did not want a puppy." "This active boy was given up by someone who said they had not time to exercise and train a dog." Then why get him the first place? "This cutie was given up by someone who thought the puppy should bark when he had to go to the bathroom, instead of properly housetraining the pup." Idiot. "These poor dogs were abandoned in a house and they were locked inside of crates for days with no food, water, or exercise." "They were rescued from a house where they were locked in the dark with 41 other dogs and never let outside." "Benji is a sweet little boy whose elderly owner recently died" By the way, Benji himself is also considered elderly as he is ten years old. But remember small dogs can live to be 15 and up. For more information and photos of dogs available for adoption at the D.C.Shelter, please go to their website. I'm going to highlight a few of them in my next entry.
