So, Winston, the 13 yr old Poodle mix who reminded me of my first dog and who was in a local kill shelter that I ranted about here and here was pulled by a rescue group. WOO FUCKING HOO!!! (Pulled means they paid the adoption fee and bailed him out of there.) A big thank you to the group that pulled him.

This makes me a little less hate filled (although I still wish nasty things on his former owners for dumping an old doggie in a place that gives them just four days to find a home*) and a lot happier today than I was yesterday when I called the shelter to ask about him after I discovered his picture was no longer on the shelter's website and waited while the girl on the other end checked the computer. I was totally expecting her to come back with bad news.

And, since he was there since Jan 22nd, a huge thank you to the employee at the shelter who gave him a little extra time to find a home. There must have been something special about him. Or maybe it was a slow week and they didn't get in many new dogs so they still had room for him. Whatever the case, the happy news is he was able to get out of there.
