Give a Dog A Home Articles on the New York City CACCFebruary 11, 2004 4:48 a.m. Wednesday Read a depressing article about dogs and cats who are dumped for the stupidest reasons at the Center for Animal Care and Control in NYC. Now, read a slightly more uplifting article about the CACC. This one is especially worth taking a look at it if you have ever had to deal with the CACC. I called them once to check on a dog who was listed on their Petfinder page. After the phone rang about twenty times without an answer, I gave up. I tried again a little while later. This time someone answered but I was transferred to another line right away and put on hold. Finally, a guy picked up, and when I told him I needed some information on a dog, he said he couldn't help me and hung up. So, the Manhattan CACC (I've never dealt with the one in Brooklyn) has been on my shit list for quite some time (and other people's too...I once took an informal poll of some of my rescue friends who had dealt with the CACC, and only one had anything positive to say about it). I am really happy to read about the changes they are making.
